Curiousity successfully lands on Mars

The Mars rover Curiosity had a successful landing early Monday morning. The signal that indicated landing was received at about 1:31 am EST on 8/6. Within minutes of landing, the Rover sent back an image showing one of its 6 wheels on the surface of Mars.

Curiosity on course for Mars landing

NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory and the Curiosity rover are on course to enter the Martian atmosphere, following an 8 ½ month journey to the Red Planet at 8,000 mph. By the time it arrives at Mars, gravity will have accelerated the spacecraft to a whopping 13,200 mph.
